You’re never going to get out of debt accidentally. It’s got to be intentional. You’ve got to have a plan. The Bible says, “Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity” (Proverbs 21:5). You’ll need someone objective to help you do this. We need somebody who’ll say, “Have you thought about this? Can you really afford it?” And, most importantly, they’ll help you set up a repayment plan.
First you need to know: What/How much do I owe? You need to set-up a budget. How much I will repay? And finally, what is my debt repayment strategy?
Well, you don’t have to belong to a big church to get financial help. Churches like the idea of giving their people a coach to help them get out of their financial troubles. Sometimes they may classes or partnerships with Financial Peace University that you can take there or at other local churches. If you choose to have more of a one-on-one session, just find someone in your church who love people and aren’t scared by numbers. If the person has gotten out of debt themselves, that’s even better. If you really want to reach your goals, you should have a plan in place to make it happen first. The plan is to allow you to track the progress of your payments and to gauge how far you have to go.
